Beating Procrastination

"Yesterday's procrastination is today's shitshitshit"

Hey so I was inspired to write this post because I am one of the worst procrastinators. If you don't believe me, I killed my procrastination monkey. I don't freak out until its like a week later uhhh and honestly its a bummer because my life is passing by and I'm procrastinating everything. So here are some tips to stop procrastinating➥

To-Do List
1. Make a to-do list //
This one might be obvious but writing down what you have to do is a great way to encourage you to do the things because its gets it out of your head and stops you worrying about it. It is also great as you can check the things off and this will give you a sense of accomplishment.

2. One Step At A Time //
By breaking your tasks down into smaller parts is a great way to make them seem less daunting and you can spread out the work so it does not seem so tedious.

3. Just Do It // Count down 3,2,1 and do it. Don't over think it, just start it. The longer you wait the more you will work it up in your head into something way worse then the original task. Don't push it off to tomorrow because then tomorrow you'll push it off again and it will become a habit and you will never get anything done. And anything you do do wont be of quality because you have crammed a month long research project into a five minute google search.

4. Why Are You Doing It? // Ask yourself why you need to do this task is it for school, work, does it effect your future etc? Then do it because if you do not do anything else prioritise the tasks that effect your future.

5. Put It Down //
Put down that phone or laptop and take out your to-do list. Don't fall hostage to social media and youtube videos of cute animals. An awesome app for keeping you off your phone or device is Forest. Basically it sets a timer and for that time you won't be able to leave that app or your tree dies. Once you plant a healthy tree you get coins which you can use to buy a real tree to be planted.

6. Don't Worry //
Don't be too hard on yourself. You can get it done once you start. Are waiting for the perfect time to complete your task? The time is never going to be perfect so just do it now and don't worry about the timing. Don't worry if its not perfect finish your tasks and if you have spare time fix it but don't be stressing about every little detail.

7. Reward Yourself // If you finish a task why not take a break and reward yourself by watching a youtube video, reading your favourite blog, ten minutes on twitter, the reward opportunities are endless find something that works for you.

After a while doing tasks will become habit if you use these tips and any tips of your own. If you have any other tips feel free to leave them below. Are you a procrastinator? What helps you stay on track?
